RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for RRB Assistant Loco Pilot notification need to have eligibility , otherwise their candidature will be rejection in later stages of the recruitment . Aspirants are advised to check eligibility before applying for the notified posts .
Educational Qualification
Candidate should have any one of the following educational qualification .
- Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of India in the trades of Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV),Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air- Conditioning Mechanic.
- Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above
- Matriculation / SSLC plus three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics/ Automobile Engineering
- combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized Institution in lieu of ITI.
Note: Degree in the Engineering disciplines as above will also be acceptable in lieu of Diploma in Engineering. Candidates waiting for final results of prescribed educational /technical qualifications are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit

RRB ALP 2026 Selection Process
The selection process for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 includes:
- CBT-1 Examination
- CBT-2 Examination
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
CBT-1 Examination:
CBT-1 is a preliminary screening examination and will be conducted online. It consist 75 questions , each question carries 1 mark . Duration of the exam is 60 minutes . Negative marking of 1/3 is applicable for each wrong answer .
Minimum pass percentage is UR & EWS – 40%, OBC (NCL) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%.
CBT-2 Examination:
Candidates shortlisted from CBT-1 will appear for CBT-2. This is the most important stage in ALP recruitment these marks will be included in final merit list calculation .
CBT-2 will be in two parts , they are
- Part-A: 90 minutes & 100 question : General Studies
- Part-B: 60 minutes & 75 questions : Technical Subject
Negative marking of 1/3 is applicable for each wrong answer .
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
Candidates who qualify CBT-2 Part A and Part B are called for CBAT in 1:8 ration. For each post of ALP 8 candidates will be called for CBAT .
All candidates must get 42 marks in each battery for qualifying for document verification . No negative marking for wrong answers for CBAT .
Final merit is prepared using
- 70% weightage from CBT-2 Part A
- 30% weightage from CBAT
So candidates are advised focus on CBT – Part A and CBAT to get best place in merit list .
Document Verification (DV)
Based on final merit list candidates will be shortlisted in merit list will be called for document verification. Candidates required to produce following documents .
- 10th Certificate
- ITI/Diploma Certificates
- Aadhaar Card
- Community Certificate
- EWS Certificate
- PwBD Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport Size Photos
Any mismatch of details in certificates may lead to disqualification. So candidates are advised to be careful while applying for the notification.
Medical Examination
Candidate need to posses medical fitness such No Color Blindness or No Night Blindness . Candidate will be checked for physical fitness .
